The Story of the Season

NOBODY SAW SUNSET COMING.

Oregon Episcopal ran the table. The Aardvarks finished the year 17-1 and held the #1 LaxNumbers rating wire to wire — the clear favorite heading into the postseason.

Then the semifinals happened. Sunset walked into OES and won 7-6, handing the top seed its only loss of the season. Three days later the Apollos closed the show — a 4-goal run in five minutes to put away West Linn 9-7 in the final.

Down the road at the 1 o'clock game, Newberg outlasted Canby 15-13 in a Cascade Cup final that was everything a consolation bracket should be.

The champion finished #4 in the math. That's why you watch the games — and why the app carries two independent ranking systems.

Two Systems, One App

TRUST THE MATH.
OR DON'T.

LaxNumbers uses a proprietary algorithm built on average goal differential and strength of schedule — a single formula that rewards both winning and playing tough competition.

LaxPower aggregates six independent mathematical ranking systems into a consensus score, smoothing out any single algorithm's quirks.

In 2026, the math had Sunset fourth. The scoreboard made them champions. That gap between the systems — and between the systems and reality — is the whole conversation.

Built for the Sideline

BUILT BY AN OREGON LACROSSE DAD.

VarsityLax was born from a simple frustration: there was no single place to follow Oregon high school boys lacrosse — rankings, scores, schedules, and playoffs — for all 41 OHSLA programs. So I built one.

Free. No accounts. No ads. No tracking. Data comes from OHSLA, LaxNumbers, and LaxPower — the same sources the Oregon lacrosse community has always relied on, pulled together in one place and synced every two hours.
